Issues related to the use of the specialist's report in criminal proceedings

The article examines the issues that arise during the analysis of material objects, which contain information to solve the tasks set for the specialist. The status of a specialist as a subject contributing to the administration of justice in criminal proceedings was disclosed, differences between an expert and a specialist were revealed. The analysis of procedural norms, law enforcement practice was carried out, the permissible freedoms for the specialist were substantiated and the specifics and problems of legal regulation were revealed. A number of problems that still exist in the legislation of the Russian Federation are highlighted, in view of which it is proposed to regulate the list of prohibitions for the specialist and reflect the boundaries of what is allowed in order to regulate the legislation.
