The paper presents advantages and risks of using unmanned systems under conditions of the modern technological development. It demonstrates relevance and scale of introducing the unmanned automatic systems in the modern world and notes their widespread use in various activity areas. Potential for improving economic and production efficiency is demonstrated, as well as a possibility to optimize certain activities and reduce risks in potentially hazardous professions. It is also shown that rapid development of the unmanned systems brings to the fore the issue of social risks and ethics in use and development of the unmanned vehicles making it important to develop strict regulatory frameworks and safety standards for the unmanned systems.
