The article deals with general methods of measuring adhesive strength of paint coatings. We state normative documents that specify equipment, tools, and the correct sequence of testing adhesive strength of paint coatings and of processing the results obtained during tests pertaining to each method. We evaluate the primary methods of measuring adhesive strength in terms of application efficiency under industrial or laboratory conditions. We present guidelines for selecting a method best suitable for specific tasks, taking into account estimated testing expenditure. We select the most affordable method for estimating adhesive strength of paint coatings.
