Features of the frame structures for fastening gear and other industrial equipment

The task of fixing the drive unit on a motionless base is investigated. The main advantages and disadvantages of plates and frames are considered, possible ways of increasing the rigidity of basic parts and reducing their metal consumption are analyzed. It has been revealed that at present the most promising option in small-batch production is the use of square rectangular section pipes as bearing elements of welded frames, since this material is much lighter than traditional hot-rolled profiles, is rather strong, economical, convenient for transportation and storage, and provides ease of assembly. Options have been proposed for increasing the rigidity of welded frames obtained from such a profile. However, this problem is not well understood and requires further research.
