The main directions of design activity, in which three-dimensional modeling is used, are considered in detail. Each direction is illustrated with examples from projects carried out by the authors of the work. The most relevant approaches to modeling are formulated with a description of the sequence of actions, the software used is indicated. The ways of development of the considered approaches to 3D modeling in industrial design, the prospects for their implementation in the design and prototyping processes are outlined. It is concluded that today in industrial design, as well as in engineering, three-dimensional modeling is a necessary and promising tool for solving design problems.
