The article deals with the regulatory framework of rights, duties and other procedural powers of an expert in criminal procedure. We consider several legislative acts regulating the matters mentioned and the possibility of implementing them in practice. We suggest modernizing and structuring the legislation of the Russian Federation in this field, including developing regulations that should comprehensively cover activities of state and non-state experts.
