The article is devoted to one of the main ways to achieve the resistance of electronic systems to the effects of electromagnetic interference – shielding. The conditions for the occurrence of electromagnetic interference, the reasons for the need of interference suppression, and mitigation measures are considered. The factors affecting the effectiveness of various screens in certain conditions are highlighted. The classification of electromagnetic screens according to three factors is given. The article contains recommendations on the location of the holes in the shields, for example, to provide thermal conditions, to access to the adjustable elements of shielded devices, to connect wires, and also on the use of materials for the implementation of electromagnetic shielding with high efficiency.
