The work is devoted to studying the phenomenon of humor, its nature and social functions. Humor is presented as one of the elements of thinking and socio-cultural human existence. The study examined the problem of relations between play and culture, humor and culture, humor and play. Moreover, we studied the issue of laughter and its corrective role in the development of society and culture.
