Investigation of the logistic system of Russia IX–XIII centuries

The article examines the logistical system of Russia IX–XIII cc, in particular, the trade route from the Varangians to the Greeks, reveals its importance and key functions throughout the state. It is demonstrated that the logistics of the period under consideration includes procuring, distribution, intermediary, transport and information functions, allows to optimize the flow of material flows, facilitates the development of trade, and, in turn, to the development of the economy. For the disclosure of the topic, the main functions of a number of major supporting cities (Novgorod, Smolensk, Chernigov, Ladoga) of the trade route are described. Analysis of material and information flows within the framework of external and domestic trade between Rus, Byzantium, Varangians, Vikings, Western Europe and the Muslim East is produced. The importance of the logistics of our time and logistics of the IX–XIII cc. for the development of cities, industry, the strengthening of trade relations and the formation of statehood is emphasized.
