The paper is concerned with the main possibilities of using liquid oxygen in various fields of science and technology. In this paper, the author described the methods for producing oxygen and the methods for cooling it to a liquid state. It is given one of the principal schemes for obtaining liquid oxygen, which has been used for a long time at the test station of complex 27 at Baikonur cosmodrome. The author considered the composition, advantages and disadvantages, and the peculiarities of functioning of the combined system for the production and separation of liquid oxygen, performed according to the scheme with cooling of liquid oxygen in a heat exchanger using nitrogen dioxide vapors as a refrigerant. In this paper, it is analyzed the graphs of the process of cooling the cryogenic components and possible methods of their intensification.
